trip planning

Filed under: general — admin @ 9:56 pm

So as our cross country trek approaches, I find myself doing more and more travel research.  I was searching for online travel guides and found quite a bit of good information.  A really nice company that I came across is Trusted Tours and Attractions. They are an excellent travel group resource.  Jen loves group travel like this, and has looked into them a few times.  They have a nice newsletter that gives occasional updates on their offerings.

It reminds me of the first time I went to Vegas on a Las Vegas Tour.  I was 19, Damo was 15, and we were with mom and Bruno.  Of course the first few days we just walked around the resorts admiring the spectacle of the place.  It was simply amazing - the size of the buildings, the scope of the design, the uniqueness of each casino.  By the third day, Damo and I were dying to play some games.  As we would walk around with our parents, we would drop a quarter in here, a dollar there.  Reach in mom’s tub, and grab a few more quarters.  Win a bit, lose a bit.  The next day, damo and I had about ten bucks each.  He put it in one machine and I put mine in another.  After about five minutes, Damo hit the jackpot.  Quickly I run around to try to find the parents so they can collect the prize for us.  I come back about a minute later, and mot only is the attendant there with Damo.  He is ghost white with fear.  He tries to tell them he is watching it for our parents but to no avail - the attendant calls security.  We see three coming towards us, from every direction.  We panic and truck it for the front door.  They are chasing us like we robbed the joint.  We get outside and hide down the street a bit.  We start laughing and realize we ill never find our parents so we have to go back!  So we actually go all the way around the hotel to the pool and go in the back entrance.  Low and behold one of the gurads is RIGHT THERE and we have to split again!  We had to go back to the front of the casino, each stake out an entrance door, but far enough away to not be seen, to wait for our parents.  We finally found them, and went back to our hotel.

Hurricane Fay on the way!!

Filed under: general — admin @ 9:35 am

So it finally starts… OFFICIAL hurricane season - meaning the first one to actually come towards Central Florida. It will be interesting to see how it affects us and how it travels. These really obtuse angles into Florida really widen the dispersion location. Thankfully it will only be a small hurricane, if at all - it is 60MPH winds leaving Cuba now, and should strengthen with the warm gulf waters and the gulfstream, but only time will tell.

Hydrotech Pools offers a hurricane cleanup service for pre-hurricane and post-hurricane service. They will prep the pool for a hurricane, and then clean up and restart it after the hurricane passes. It is a family owned business and great people! Recemmended highly. http://www.hydrotechpool.com/hurricane.html

Google Maps UK

Filed under: general — admin @ 9:13 pm

Now this is funny… Google maps UK, as are Google Maps, are photographing street view images.  Well, seeing as how walking is quite popular there, looks like this chap decided to walk instead of taking a taxi.  And didn’t quite make it.  And, well, slept long enough through the morning for Google Car to drive by and catch him taking a kip…

roadtrip planning day 2

Filed under: general — admin @ 6:56 am

So after we go to Yosemite the first day of the trip, we are going to go to Lake Tahoe the second day of the trip.  We will probably do some sightseeing around the lake one day, then go whitewater rafting the next day on the Truckee River north of Lake Tahoe.  From there, we will probably stay in Reno for a night.

more road trip planning

So we have decided on stopping in yosemite national park so far.  I have never been there and am really excited to go see it.  The weather should be beautiful in early September.  I am sure we will have tons of great photographs.

Planning the road trip

Filed under: general — admin @ 11:21 pm

So I am flying out to Cali to see Jen and drive back with her in a month.  We will spend a week driving back across country and enjoying a nice road trip together.  In a car with all her luggage.  For a week.  And 3000 miles.  Should be interesting.  Figure i can post from my phone as to what we have done and where we are going.  Now we are in the planning stages of the trip.

workout number 1

OK so today was the first day of the crash course diet and health plan.

Day 1 consisted of a 3 mile run.  It took me 34 minutes - basically 11 minute miles.  That was terrible.  But the short term goal is a 10k at the end of the month.  I need to be running 5 miles in under an hour by the end of next week.

weekend plans

Filed under: general — admin @ 3:30 pm

So hopefully I can get some housework done this weekend.  I am trying to get a procedure for blogging as well as getting work done, but without killing my weekend.  I think that I can manage a few hours either on Saturday or Sunday.  Just budget a half day and I should be good.

intro

Okay, so here is my blog.  I guess I am going to start by describing some of the plans that I have for this blog…

I think that I am going to have this as:

1.  a bit of a personal journal

2.  a bit of a blog of Central Florida real estate

3.  a bit of a financial blog

4. might as well blog about tech too since I need to keep up with that as well.

So maybe this will help me actually make the ridiculous about of time that I spend on the internet a little more productive!

Hope y’all enjoy it!
